I meant to post yesterday about sardines for lunch, but then things got complicated in my head and I didn't have time to unravel it all, or anything really. So you will please take for granted a whole intricate post about 1960s childhoods and how some things got better and some things got worse and even canned sardines didn't stay the same, tho' they are better and worse simultaneously, possibly for fishery reasons or marketing reasons or or or.

I went round a pilchard canning factory once, in Portugal, but I was too small to appreciate it.

Also, I have once seen a man fillet a fresh sardine one-handed with his fingernails. It was incredibly impressive, and I was just the right size to appreciate it, but not alas to emulate it. Though I did try.

In less fishy news, my rather wonderful wife has a new job. It's taken them three months to make a swift appointment, but when she takes up her position Karen will be a Principal Analytics Consultant with the eDiscovery group of a company forever synonymous with photocopying. Which makes her a PAC, so I shall of course call her my Super-PAC until she hits me. Which probably won't take very long, as she'll be obliged to work from home. Except for possible occasional travelling, where I may be obliged to go with her. I am nobody's actual idea of an aide-de-camp, but I can pretend the hell out of the role.
