In which I create and prepare an all-new dessert, in forty-five minutes flat...

If it's nasty, obviously, I shall never mention it again. If it's nice, though, it shall be called Chaz'z Quadruple-Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding, for lo, chocolate is in fact the only dessert. And this is chocolate-and-sour-cherry bread (which is double-chocolate in itself, for it's a chocolate dough with chocolate chips embedded in it along with the dried cherries), made into buttery sandwiches with real chocolate chunks for filling, in a chocolate-and-vanilla custard. Basically, what's not to be gorgeous? But we cannot know for sure until it's been in and out of the oven and down via people's gullets to their nether regions. With cream.

PS - Mac got to lick out the mixing-bowl, and is so ridiculously pleased with himself, he hasn't noticed he's got chocolate custard on his whiskers. Unless he's saving it for later...

I usually make myself double-chocolate scones with cherries for my birthday breakfast, but that's quadruple-chocolate is a heady height to which I have barely aspired.

My dad used to think he didn't like cherries as an ingredient, just fresh ones by themselves. Then he tried my hazelnut-chocolate chip-sour cherry brownies. I win.

I don't want to be a spoil-sport or anything, but you really want to keep your cats away from chocolate. It's not as toxic to them as it is to dogs, and I suspect the level of theobromine that'll have found its way into a choc-and-vanilla custard won't be very serious, but chocolate is poisonous to and causes liver damage in cats. There are, sadly, a whole load of things that humans like and cats will eat that are poisonous to said felines ...

Eek! Thanks, Charlie - I didn't know. Mostly I've been trying to keep Mac away from the chocolate because it's my chocolate and I want it (tho' not perhaps quite as much as he does); I will be stricter hereafter. Poor boy...
