desperanceYou're all right, of course it was the cats who lacerated me. Well, one of 'em. Technically Barry, him in the icon there, but he was only seeking safety from the Awful Boy...
Thing is, it's got a lot colder this last couple of days; suddenly my bedroom is a lot more popular. Mac's actually nesting in there during daylight hours, which is unheard-of (I went in and the duvet chirruped at me; he was invisible within its folds, so it was quite a startling moment). At night, though, they're both coming in looking for a snuggly place to sleep. And Mac can't resist having a quick pounce on Barry, and Barry has a flee-or-flee reflex, but he doesn't want to leave the nice warm place that is my bed; so he reckons if he can just get the other side of me, then my body makes a good defensible rampart.
Last night, though, rather than making a wild leap for safety, he tried to scrabble for it (he may actually have had a fiendish Mac hanging ferociously from his hindquarters at the time, which would naturally impede his leaping). Anyway, he identified the gap between my head and the wall as his best way through, and off he went. Scrabble-scrabble. With his claws on the me side of his route.
Hence these long and vicious scratches, in that instant before I yelled loudly enough to make Mac himself bolt for shelter.
Cheap thrillers have been reporting for years (hell, I b'lieve I've written the line myself) that scalp wounds do bleed. Profusely. I'm pleased to confirm that it's true.
Also, I have not shaved my head today.

We have a black cat, a tabby, & a white cat... so there's no safe color clothing for us. ;)
