Play was a bit of a trainwreck tonight. The audience might not have noticed (I can't tell, being flat on my back staring at the ceiling throughout), but someone lost a line and fumbled an impro early on, and half the cast was fighting giggles for the rest of the night. And so losing lines, and making wild stabs at my beautiful polished prose, and...
And it wasn't helped by the space we're in: which is billed as the Studio Theatre, and it's got raked seating and everything, in a purpose-built building - so now someone tell me, why would you build a theatre with no exits or entrances onto the stage, except the one great slamming door into the passage outside...? Me, I have it easy, I'm just in bed all night, but the actors were struggling.
And in the meantime I spent the day trying to write, and barely managed a half-ration and don't like that. Please, will this book please just end...?
And now my throat is razors, and I'm going to bed.
