Coo. Or, possibly, whoops
Oct. 1st, 2006 12:36 pmUmm. It's after midday already, I've done nothing yet; this is beginning to shape up into a Day Off. Which is unexpected. I'd planned to pitch into the urban fantasy, finish this chapter, find myself halfway through, all those good ticky-boxes.
But - well, I was out with friends and food and alcohol last night, and it all ran a little late; and then I didn't sleep too terribly well; and so I dozed in this morning; and then there I was with a foodie magazine in my hands, coffee on the table and a snoozy cat sprawled all over my lap, and I really had no incentive to move. And now it is, as I say, gone midday, and I know I have to leave the house at three, so there's no prospect of getting very far with anything, I need to see a clear run ahead of me if I'm going to get properly started. So...
I think I'll blame Gail and Sue, who have tempted me out this afternoon. We're going to see The Third Man, on the big screen at the Tyneside Cinema, another of those Newcastle buildings that we love (it's an old 1920s newsreel cinema at heart, still with many of those original features; I was going to put in a link, but the site's down, so no; try googling, if you want to see the shiny). It's a great film from a great book, and I can't remember when I last saw it at a cinema. So there's that, which is Yielding to Temptation and Indulging Myself and all these other bad things that I'm not supposed to do any more; and then we're back to Sue's afterwards for dinner, which is Heaping Ossa upon Pelion, unless it's the other way around. You'd think by now my friends would understand that I lack the ability to say no to nice things, and therefore it is their bounden duty not to offer them.
* sighs, shakes head *
