This number of thingies make a whatsit:
1. It is Karen's birthday, yay! Go over and wish
klwilliams the happiest of birthdays. I'll wait.
2. I have grated beetroot in my gin. This was accidental, but could see the birth of a whole new family of cocktails...
3. Actually, I have grated beetroot everywhere. I am ... lavish in my cookery. Also, I wish I had taken photos: the cake mixture went from creamy-yellow to take-those-off-your-auntie's-coming pink to is-that-entirely-legal? deep and glossy brown, and it deserved to be recorded.
4. For the satisfaction of curiosity: American coffeecake has no coffee in it. None.
5. Early this morning, I found an ending to my pi-story, which has been written in that neat interstice between pi-day and K's birthday, and so must necessarily be her gift, to be performed at her invitation-only reading this evening. My reading, that is: I read to her and her intimate friends. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Read into that what you will.
ETA:
6. This red on my knuckle? Turns out not to be beet-juice at all. Ouchie. How did I do that...?
