Here's a nice thing

Having had a conversation with Peter S Beagle kind of made mere earthly delights slip my mind, when I was considering what was best about WFC; but in terms of touching Chaz'z life more nearly, probably the best thing is this. I'd caught sight of m'friend Mike, whom I must have known for twenty years or nearabouts, coming and going in the halls; but at the mass signing, there he was with his wife Paula, whom I have known almost as long as he has, and their nearly-seven-year-old whom I had not met before (they're London people, so we only tend to meet at cons). And they stayed to talk, and we utterly startled each other: me with my news of marrying Karen and moving to Sunnyvale, they with their news of no longer being London people. They're living in Santa Cruz, just over the mountains from here. So yay.

Pandaemonium progress

This is inclusive of yesterday's numbers, which were just shy of a thousand words:

I need to deliver this at the end of January, which is three months from now; so I've signed up for the latest round of novel_in_90, which started handily yesterday and will see me through to the deadline.

Of course this also coincides with the start of NaNoWriMo, which I have never signed up to because I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I do not deny that if I could come out of this month with 50K it would be a very good beginning.

Today Karen is home sick, and I myself am coughy and snivelly and ouchie in a more simple con-crud kind of way. It is not known how much work I may attempt, let alone achieve; but there are lots more days to come. Lots and lots. Oh, yes.

Meanwhile, my narrator is on the run. Again. These are the Books of Running Away. Actually, my entire oeuvre is pretty much the Oeuvre of Running Away. And as you know, Bob, all fiction is an act of autobiography.
