This is the last time I get to cook for Karen this side of Xmas. We've been out all day, having massages and exploring the peninsula; it's not the time to get fancy. So I'm just roasting a chicken, with veggies and green beans on the side. But I have knocked up some tarragon butter (the tarragon is rampant in the herb patch) and slipped that beneath the skin of the breast; and I shall stuff the cavity with elephant garlic from the farmers' market and a lemon! from my lemon!tree. I couldn't be happier, or possibly more miserable. It's a long time till Xmas.
