Mac's new trick is drinking direct from the running faucet.

Chaz'z new trick is calling it a faucet, not a tap. Tho' apparently what comes out of it is tap-water, not faucet-water. *shrugs*

Barry's new trick is getting shut in the closet All Night Long. (And being a perfect angel about it this morning, but that's not actually new.)

Karen's new trick is having the exact obscure kitchen equipment that I had forgotten that I'd need, despite the extraordinary unlikelihood of her doing so.

In other news, we're going up to the city today. If you're in San Francisco, I'm reading with Caitlin Kittredge at Borderlands at 3pm; and from 6pm at the same venue is Seanan McGuire's launch party for Discount Armageddon, which will be a riot of fun.

It's a shout-out more than a review, but [livejournal.com profile] mrissa is one of the people whose shout-outs I find more reliable than other people's reviews, so when she shouts for me I do kind of preen.

She said this:

Chaz Brenchley, House of Doors. I think this is my favorite Chazbook. It's a good thing I got it as a random surprise present though, because the cover copy is more or less optimally designed to make me think I will hate it. It is not actually a "make you jump and scream" book, although the characters sometimes jump and scream with just cause. It is a homefront WWII book with fantasy content, and it is about a very sensible young widowed nurse, and it hits all my buttons that way.

If you go here, you can read what she says about a lot of other books too.
