...is of course the sound of a dead tree falling over, which is of course ironically inappropriate to an e-store, but nevertheless: first day back at work from the national holiday, the Book View Cafe bookstore and blog all decided to stay in bed and not turn up for work this morning.
Which is kinda sub-optimal for all of us, but especially for Mindy Klasky, whose new book launched this morning.
Mindy's been writing a series of baseball romances. Now as it happens, I only ever understood baseball for a solitary week, when I was in Toronto and the Blue Jays were in the World Series and a nice man took me intohis underground lair a basement sports bar and explained it all to me. That was long ago (yikes! more than twenty years!) and I have forgotten everything. But Mindy said it didn't matter, so I copy-edited one book earlier in the series and I proofread the new one just last month (for this is how we roll at BVC, we all do what we're good at; me, I interrogate texts quite closely), and it would be a durn shame if a technosnafu ruined her launch day.
So everything's back up now, and if you missed it, here's the bookstore page for From Left Field. And you really don't have to understand baseball to enjoy it thoroughly, as I myself did.
