Somebody remind me again, what exactly do we do with days off? I keep drawing up helpless little lists - housework! shopping! read LJ! - but (with the exception of housework, obviously) these are the things I do every day anyway, in between the work. It's those great gouged holes of time that I have to fill, and I have no idea what to put in 'em.
I could read a book! That would almost be novel, these days - but that's largely because I am grrrinding my way through [redacted British SF novel of recent vintage], and it is such an effort. Which I don't understand, because I have read and enjoyed earlier books from the same author (who does not, as far as I'm aware, read this blog: I'm only being discreet because they are after all a colleague, and I deliberately don't do book reports here unless I want to squee; I really don't want to start snarking about other writers' books in this journal), but this one... Urgh. It may be because of my own current mindset, that I've spent these weeks picking apart my own over-long text; but I'm just finding the prose turgid and the pace funereal. I'm close enough to the end now that I will finish; and I could do that today, but - well, y'know, day off. Aren't I supposed to enjoy it?
Ooh. Here's a thing! But it deserves a fresh post, and shall have one. See you at the next click...
