I'm home

I have been Away! Also, as some of you have noticed, Silent!

Mostly, I have been at Orbital, this year's Eastercon. Staying with [livejournal.com profile] jemck, as were [livejournal.com profile] slovobooks and [livejournal.com profile] ephiriel, which added much to the jollity of the occasion: I like new people. *adds Pádraig and Deirdre to his list*

So I did convention, in its usual fashions. As is usual at conventions, I didn't win the award I was shortlisted for. (You may now boo, although we like the bloke who did.) Mostly, I hung out in the bar and the dealers' room. Mostly, while in the dealers' room, I managed to maintain the pretence that I wasn't going to buy any books. Tragically, there was the occasional slippage of resolve, and my bag coming home was significantly heavier than it was going down. Sigh now.

And then I went to Henley for a couple of days of much-needed R&R: that's Reading and Restoration, since you ask. Alcohol is most restorative, after a weekend of, um, alcohol. The entire coat of the dog that bit you, y'know...?

And now I'm home, and the boys have been no more evil than usual, all things considered, and seem willing to admit they might be quite glad to see me back, all things considered. Which is as much as one can look for, really.
