Damn, I meant to make a post about yesterday's Murder Squad gig and how good it was, and how much I like my colleagues and how well we work together, being all contrasty and all; and how we had a numerous and enthusiastic audience (and how I was the Local Boy Made Good, hee, some of them had even actually read me...) and how tired I was afterwards, because two and a half hours of a room's attention really is draining, even where there's three of you together.

But I forgot, and it's too late now. I'm off to bed with a book. I have the new John Meaney to read! For review! I haven't reviewed a book for ages, for years'n'years; and when I did it semi-regularly, I only ever got books I didn't like. But! John Meaney! I am not normally a bed-reader any more, but my body is too tired and achey to stay upright, while my mind is still far from sleep. And I have John Meaney to lie down with. As it were. (And I even met him at Eastercon, in a brief and chatty sort of way. John Meaney!)

Which one?

(His latest -- in hardcover -- is #2 of a series, and you really need to read #1 first. Can't remember the titles: they're at home, and I'm in DC(or thereabouts).)

It's Dark Blood, the sequel to Bone Song - but this was one of the happy brackets at Eastercon: on the first day, Kari thrust Dark Blood into my hands for review, and on the last day I found a copy of Bone Song on a dealer's table, being sold off cheapo. Am sorted for Meaney. Yay!

Ooh, do you know him? Please do! (Tho' I may possibly have squee'd at him a little bit in person; I do try to restrain my squee in the flesh, being all too British and so on, but I may have weakened in this instance, simply because I wasn't prepared...)

Indeed, thanks to the wonderful Molly Brown we've become good friends.

I love it when our friends appreciate each other.

Hee. Molly Brown. How the devil is she? Haven't seen her for yeeeears... (You know that old thing about its being a small world? Well, thing is, if we keep on meeting each other, it just keeps on getting smaller...)

Well, she had a cataract operation last year which didn't go so well. The good news is, she had a follow-up just before Christmas which sorted out most of the problem.
