"That quote about 'the strange emotional power of cheap music' applies to books too."

How much trouble would it be, for the author - or his editor? - to drop a couple of keywords into Google and find the actual quotation? Snarl...!

It appears to be Noel Coward, '. . . exatraordinary how powerful cheap music is . . .'

"potent", not powerful - it's from Private Lives. And deserves not to be garbled by someone too damn lazy to look it up. Grr.
