Whoops

I finished a chapter at lunchtime, all unexpectedly; thought there was a lot more to come, but apparently there wasn't.

Which means I have to find a new thread and weave it in, to start another chapter. And I was thinking this, and I was thinking that - and then I remembered these sidelong characters I had slipped in to vol one with the firm promise to my agents that they would earn their spurs in vol two, so I'd better find out what they're up to...

Trouble is, of course, I have no idea what they're up to. They were being good girls, last I looked, and that's no use at all.

So, what to do? I could, um, clean house. I could go shopping. I could go to the pub and read a book. I could stay home and read a book. I could garden, before the weather breaks. I could play with the cats. All of these are valid, worthwhile efforts; some are even necessary. I could just go for a walk, to think about stuff.

Or I could continue to sit here and fidget pointlessly.

At times like that I tend to lie down and close my eyes for a Big Think and New Ideas. Then when I wake up I do something else.

Argh. Loose threads.
In the current magnum opus, I have a plague of them, because I keep having Good Ideas. I need to work to catch them up (in a knitting sense) or go through removing them. There is this terrible temptation to start hares - and not all the hares can come home.
I probably need to mark them in the hard copy with little purple tags - or otherwise alert myself to their lurking presence.
I am currently fossicking around on LJ as we only have internet in the daytime (which is weird).
