I lurve Monte Cristo, he's one of my touchstones (tho' only in the one translation, the one I grew up with; I made the mistake of buying the Folio Soc edition to replace my disintegrating old hardback, and I can't read it. It's like seeing a favourite novel rewritten, word for word...)
