Aug. 17th, 2006 02:48 pmFurther to recent spit-hate for pavement cyclists: I was just downstairs with the cat, looking out of the window at the rain, and along came a policeman. On a bicycle. On the pavement. Please may I run out and make a citizen's arrest, please? Snarrrrllll...

Date: 2006-08-17 02:16 pm (UTC)I take it you and the kitty don't like bicyclists? Am I wrong?
I'm tired, so am therefore confuzzled. :P

Date: 2006-08-17 02:21 pm (UTC)Barry-cat has no view, that I'm aware of. He watches bikes with a deep lack of interest. Dogs, on the other hand, excite him utterly; he dashes from one window to the next to keep them in view as long as possible. I'd back him against the little ones any day, but he thinks he can take a Rottweiler. How do your kittens get on with Val - and if peacefully, did that just happen, or did you need to persuade 'em to play nice?

She does happen to chase cats that are not in our house, or don't belong to those friends that she visits regularly. :P

Date: 2006-08-21 09:24 pm (UTC)She was riding her bicycle without a light and was stopped by a policeman who told her she was breaking the law and demanded to know her name and address. This she refused to tell him. He then told her that he was arresting her. She then informed him that riding a bicycle without a light was not an arrestable offence. He then inquired as to whether the bicycle was hers. Could she prove it was? He then arrested her on suspicion of stealing it.
Footnote: You can tell this was a long time ago because (a) the policeman actually was enforcing the law about bicycles needing lights and (b) riding a bicycle without a light is now an arrestable offence under Section 110 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.
