Oops

I wrote a phrase that I was really happy with, and then got all caught up with wondering how that happens - when the fingers are rolling along not stopping for breath, and I'm enjoying the simple physical act of typing as well as the storytelling, and suddenly there's this phrase and I stop and read it and think "that's interesting, but it doesn't quite make sense and doesn't quite say what I meant, and ... oh, wait ..." and I go back and add a word and suddenly it does and it does and hey, where did that come from? - and was so distracted by the mental mechanics of the creative process that I stalled out entirely on the storytelling, and have written nothing now, not a word for twenty minutes.

So I thought I'd make it into a post, see if that moved me on at all.

The phrase? She's wading through a paddy field of corpses, and it started out as "stray eyes watched her with the passion of ghosts," and then I looked at it and went back and now it says "stray eyes watched her with the lost passion of ghosts," and I still love it.
