The nice computer man phoned, with news of my poor hospitalised desktop.

Dell sent a circuit board, as per request, and astonishingly it did arrive in time for Xmas.

Why am I not astonished to learn that it is in face the wrong circuit board, and does not line up with the USB ports, and has to be returned and replaced...?

Sob!

Assume, then, that I don't get the machine back till the new year. That means definitely no big party on my birthday, because I can't invite anyone without my address book, and it's really too late already. So: some kind of small birthday gathering, I guess, and I'll have a big party at the end of the month to celebrate book-launch and me together. L is for Launch, after all, and I shall still be L years old. L-and-a-bit.

If I make it that far, if I don't expire from rage and frothing. Wrong bloody circuit board, mutter mutter...
