We can haz floorboards. Akshual floorboards. I haz pictorial evidence, with cats. Helping. Lots.

On the other hand, the staircarpet is held in place with nasty spiky things, which will all need stripping out for fear of dainty paws.

Also, new rule: always check how long a job will be, before beginning. In this instance, how long the staircarpet will be. It runs twice as far as I thought, and I have to shift a whole caseload more books.

Also, dust. My chest hurts. I think we knew that?

Staircarpets may go down as well as up.

One of those unofficial rules of life... There's always something horrid underneath an old carpet. One of my more embarrassing DIY experiences was having to go to A&E after having inhaled: (a) fine particulate remains of perished rubber backing from manky old carpet; (b) fumes from adhesive from the Marley tiles that were underneath said manky old carpet. :-(

Being laughed at by triage nurses only adds insult to injury! ;-)

Still, you seem to have survived exposure to underside of manky old carpet (judging by further entries)... Hope the further renovations will not prove too arduous!
