Flycon!

I will be participating in Flycon this weekend. For those who know not, it's a con-by-internet: no hotel bills, no travel chaos. Alas, the late-night bar conversations may be hard to organise cross-continent and cross-airwave, but we'll do our best.

At present I have the first author chat of the con - Friday 1.30pm my time, Saturday 12.30am Sydney time, other times to be worked out pro rata - and a panel on Hard-Boiled Fantasy, 1pm Sunday, currently with Andrew McKiernan. Will try to drop by as I think the idea of online conventions is fascinating, but thus far I am finding the software they are using full of FAIL.

I'm sorry about that; so far I have been a little stunned to find that the author chat software works just fine on my Linux system, for all that I have never ever done a chatting before...

Have just done some more testing when I wasn't running economic models in the background and it is now usable, if a bit untidy. Hopefully talk to you Friday.
