Okay. I have made the ciabatta dough, and risen it, and divided it, and set it to rise again. (Come to think, counting the sponge last night, this is the third time. I can bake God?)

I do have to say that without exception, this is the nastiest, wettest, stickiest dough I have ever had to work with (and the recipe says, quite loudly, Do Not Add More Flour! So I didn't. Eww). It better make good bread, or I am looking elsewhere next time.

Meantime, while it rises again, I have to do a panel over at Flycon. You will find me pontificating under "Hard-boiled Fantasy". If you're quick.

that's how ciabatta dough is supposed to be. I've never actually made it, but I've seen it made, and it looks dreadful. I am most curious to hear how the experiment goes!

The Flycon panel was interesting. Thanks!

Heh. Felt a bit like fighting the technology, swimming against the tide, all that endless slow refreshing - but there were at least the seeds of an interesting discussion there, even if we lost the rat-a-tat of swift debate.

Oh, yes. I found the sff.net discussions easier to follow, but we make do.

I went and had lunch (so as to be ready to pick up Gail at 3.00) and then came back and caught up with the panel. You don't get to join in that way, but you get to read the discussion at a more comfortable speed (which, for an audience member is surely the way to do it).

Good discussion; well done!

Sorry I missed the panel. I got the time wrong :-( But am catching up on it now. I had a panel with [livejournal.com profile] gillpolack and Marie Brennan and [livejournal.com profile] green_knight last night that was pretty much the same -- what I didn't like is that there was no way to tell which comments you'd already read. But it went way better than the one with [livejournal.com profile] brisingamen, when there was major tech fail.
