Hanns Heinz Ewers - a notorious plug (for someone else's book)

Hanns Heinz Ewers produced some of the strangest writing of the early 20th century. His life was not quite so exotic, but it didn't fall short by far.

He is still little known and less published in English, but m'friend John of Sidereal Press is doing his best to attend to that. In collaboration with the Ewers estate, he's published a new collection of the classic short stories, together with some that have not been translated before. The book is a stunning collector's item in a limited edition. You need this book, and the literary world needs you to buy it, as proceeds from this will fund the next volume, and so on until Ewers' entire oeuvre has been translated and published. Yay.

Actually, his life was fairly exotic. Not only was he aGerman agent during WWI, but was fairly openly gay during a period where it was not safe to have any suspicions aroused.

Hm, thanks for the heads-up. For all I know, there's only been one widely available collection of Ewers' stuff in France, that was La Mandragore (The mandrake), and I don't think I've ever read it. Might as well pounce on this volume, then, especially since the cover is darn classy and all very purty.

How silly can one be? It said plainly in the description: postage included. And here I go asking for the price of postage. Obviously, I don't scan text very well, on a screen. Ah, well, the money has been sent, and all should be fine and settled, now. Egad, espon, to be sure, hern hern, hi diddle dee, needle nardle noo, splin splan splon, ying tong iddle-i po!

Thanks for this pointer. It also reminds me of Hans Henny Jahnn, another great but 'strange' German writer who is diffcult to find in translation. (The English wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Henny_Jahnn) doesn't have much info. The French and German ones are much better.)
