God, it's cold here. And bleak. And grey. The rest of the country I understand to be bathing in warmth & springshine; the east coast is swathed in chilly murk. Yesterday was so foggy it was like walking through a cloud. In fact, come to think... (Is there a scientific difference between fog and cloud? I dunno.)

Unhappily for the cats, I turned the heating off weeks ago. (What? We had a warm day! Just the one...) The house is v cold, and they sit around hunched up and resentful.

Happily for me, they haven't figured out that it's my fault the radiators no longer radiate. This means I get sat on a lot (Barry) during the daytime, for what warmth and scritches I can contribute to his comfort; and I get a snuggly-warm cat (Mac) in the bed at night. I benefit both ways. *is perfidious*

There is no warmth and springshine bathing the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire borders, I can report. I just put my nose outside for a moment, to test the matter.

Hah. They've been lying to me. I'm not in the least surprised.

Nose-exposure is above and beyond the call of duty, and we thank you for it.

Well in London right now it's grey, miserable and raining. Warm, though.

It WAS lovely and sunny in london yesterday, but I'm back in Essex now and it's grey and rancid as usual.

If two cats aren't saving you money on your heating bill you haven't installed correctly. It appears in your case though, that you have :-)

Fog/mist/murk/fret is all just low flying cloud. Everything is relative. I just wish this muck would fly a little higher and go visit some other relative.

Eww. Sympathies - but I might even be glad of real rain. Here it is cold and bleak and grey but just not quite damp enough: I still have to water the pots. Brr.

Rain and mugginess and general gloom. When I went out, the boy cats were asleep in a heap and Mooncat was sulking because all her warm places were cold. The reason? Our electricity has been turned off for the day. I'm writing this at and [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth's, as they ahve kindly taken me and my laptop in.

Yay for kindliness! Why is your lecky off? And how is the Bug's back? Please to say I was so sorry to be so close all weekend and not to see her...

Her back is not as it should be, although a little better than at the weekend.
The elec. is due to 'necessary maintenance'. I hope this means fewer power cuts, as we've had rather a lot of those recently. It's now back on and the freezer is making a very odd noise indeed.

Yesterday was a bit grim and grey in the high parts of West Yorkshire, too. We stuck to our plans to visit Castle Howard thinking it might be a little better through the Vale of &York and up on the Howardian Hills, but there wan't much improvement. Today started off misty and is now just overall white skies and slight dampness. I haven't turned my heating off yet but I have set it to turn off for about four hours in the middle of the day.

Hah! Is sunny here! It's been cold and murky for the last couple of days so maybe the sunshine is heading south and you'll get it tomorrow?

Pretty grey here, but then we are close enough to Manchester to be in the Manc-rain catchment area.
Didn't half rain last night.

My central heating has been off for a week or two but I have a wood burning stove and free wood care of Mum's neighbour with a chain saw.
