Getting stuff done
May. 25th, 2009 09:50 pmLast night, after the kitchen catastrophe, it was the oil all over the floor that most upset me, just because I had to deal with it there and then. This morning, it was the fact that my favourite knife is broken. Sure, it's just the tip gone; and sure, I have a dozen other knives; but this was my knife-of-daily-use, the blade I reached for whenever there was anything to chop or slice or peel.
So this morning, I confess, I went into town and bought a new knife. Which emphatically I did not need, nor is it a one-to-one replacement for the loss; it'll see me through, but I may yet need to shop around for another. Or more than one more. We'll see.
In other news, I also had to clean the stove-top, on account of garlic oil all over. Which did at least mean that the other accumulated crap got cleaned away. Cloud, meet your silver lining.
And I shopped for rye flour this afternoon, for I shall make a pain de campagne in the morning and had to start the biga tonight; and in between times, I finished reading through the CEM, so that's done and can go away tomorrow. Along with my accounts. Yay. Party time. Champagne and hibiscus flowers, if anyone wants to come around. So long as they bring the champagne.
