Chaz'z lunch was noodles, with scallops and bacon and samphire. And beansprouts and chillies and sugar-snaps and red scallions and such.

Mac likes samphire cooked, but not raw. Good to know.

In other news, I am having a Reading Week. I have licence to read moshui's proofs of his new novel, Jade Man's Skin; so I will do that, and otherwise read Heyer, and think perhaps about my own next project, and try not to write anything at all. I don't promise, but I will try.

And then at the end of the week I hope to hie me to Cambridge, for Constitution. Um, I may have forgotten to mention that heretofore?

I had never heard of samphire before -- just looked it up. Fascinating! And sounds delicious! Does it taste like asparagus?

Hee. Everybody asks that. It is called sea-asparagus - but not really. It's sort of darkly-green and salty to the taste, and not really like anything else: halfway between vegetable and seaweed, perhaps? And yummy.
