Book View Cafe
Mar. 11th, 2010 11:03 pmI will try to be more rational at another time, about what a great project I think Book View Cafe is; right now I am in Santa Barbara and there is fun and fishfood to be had, and so this is just a brief dashed note to observe that today I am officially launched as the newbie at BVC. There are people there like Vonda N McIntyre, and Ursula K LeGuin; you may have heard of these people? As of today, there are people there like me too. Today's front page will - for the moment - take you to me; thereafter, look for me in the common list of authors.
Specifically, BVC is there to bring lost or neglected works to a new audience. I will be posting short stories not otherwise available; right now, though, I am starting with a novel. Dead of Light is my mid-'90s urban fantasy, written before we had such a term; I called it a supernatural thriller in those days. It's still the book that elicits the most questions: "when's the movie coming out?" [at the moment, there is no movie; interested parties should address themselves to my agent]; "when will you be bringing out vol three?" [when a publisher, any publisher expresses an interest in it]; "where can I get a copy?" [right here, right now: at the moment I'm publishing a chapter a week through BVC, but as soon as I get home and get myself sorted we'll make it available as an e-book. And if enough of you want to buy it, maybe I'll be my own publisher and write vol 3 regardless...]
