Idle, wild

Days off, sortakinda: nothing hectic, nothing happening. Oh, but I needed these.
Which is not to say that I have not been working: only that I have not been worked by other people. I am writing my pi-story, a few pages a day; otherwise, sitting in the sun and reading books.
Last evening the great Scrabble tourney commenced, and was suspended at one game apiece: mean, tight, close-fought games the pair of them. No surprise, we are well-matched (and I, of course, am convinced that the letters are all against me; I am horrible competitive when I play, which is one reason I hardly play games any more). We've shifted up from best-of-three to best-of-five, and will continue to shift it until someone wins by two clear games; I hate last-gasp deciders, where luck plays a hand. Games should be decided by skill and resolution, not by chance. So saith Chaz.
And today there was a power outage (see how I take to the lingo, as to the manner born?) all morning, and I did some work by battery power and otherwise sat in the sun and read Lobscouse and Spotted Dog, while I waited for an Amazon delivery. Which I am still waiting, and starting to lose my sense of humour: I've already forgone a trip to the mall (to the mall!) in my unavailing wait. Tracking says the package reached Sunnyvale at 05.58am - so where the devil is it, huh? Huh?
