I do this on a daily basis...
Jul. 2nd, 2010 05:51 pm...and I've been meaning to ask for ages.
In my left hand, I hold a tin of gushy catfudz: cylindrical, and open at one end. In my right hand I hold a spoon, the bowl of which is dished in three directions, none of which conform to the curvature of the tin.
The goal is to scoop out exactly one quarter of the contents of the tin, in a single scoop; and then to scoop the exact same quantity again from the residue, in another single scoop.
What sort of mathematics do I need, to calculate the necessary angle and extent of each scoop? Can I do this with algebrus, or do I need calcula, or what...?
