There is too try. It's too trying...
Jul. 24th, 2010 06:02 pmDecluttering? It's hard. Obviously one cannot declutter ingredients (yes, I know I have a ridiculous number of vinegars, but each is different, and each has a purpose, dammit!), and cooking equipment likewise (two fondue sets? when I never serve fondue? - yes, but if I do a Taiwanese hotpot, then I can have a pot of regular stock in one and chilli stock in the other: which would be more than convenient, it would be crucial to the proper experience). I am gazing with a jaundiced eye at the box full of empty jars; I think that might go. I don't make as many pickles & chutneys & jams as I would like, and when I do I give most of 'em away, so it would be nice to buy in nice jars for that, wouldn't it, rather than these old random recycled things...?
But, yeah. It's hard. Parting with stuff. I'm struggling here. Mostly cleaning stuff instead of getting rid of it. And sneaking off up here instead of cleaning, even. And I can't find the place the kids hid the scrubbing-brush, so I can't fix the floor, and I can't look at the ceiling (I once wrote a poem that began, "As I gaze at the ceiling and wonder/What the hell I'm doing on the floor..."), and... Well. Better get back to it. Got to earn my curry.
