Illiteracy
Nov. 1st, 2010 12:38 pmOops. A week ago, I read through a print-out of Desdaemona; now I'm working through the scribbled-on manuscript, making changes to the file version so that I can e-mail it to my editor before he gets back from WFC.
Apparently, a week is long enough to forget what I was thinking.
My handwriting is ... eccentric. Spikes and squiggles, more a kind of prompt to my memory than actual script that anyone might actually be expected to read.
As a system, this usually works; whatever I've actually marked draws my attention more to where I have marked it, and whatever thought I had then tends to recur as I reread the original.
In this particular instance, not so much. I've inserted six words, a brief description. The first four are "black brows, pale skin"; the last two? Are defeating me utterly. I do not think they actually say "extruding noodles", though that was my first reaction. Or that last word might be "headless", but that doesn't seem likely given that it's a description of a face.
Hey-ho. I would think of something else to say instead, but now I'm fixated. I want to know what this says, damn it...
I would post a scan for your input, if I only had a scanner. Lacking that, I shall continue to batter myself bloody; that's sure to help.
