So I was walking home in all the wind and wuthering*, and I was ambushed halfway by Small Black Shouty Cat, who often intercepts me for a little fussing in the street; but this time he was seriously upset with me, because it was cold and wet and blowing a gale and he wanted to be indoors please, right now, and I didn't seem to be letting him in.
And I 'splained that I couldn't do that, because I didn't have his key; and he bounced halfway up the street with me (he is a very bouncy cat, even in extremis) and shouted crossly all the way, because it was so obviously All My Fault.
Which of course it was. I have thought this before, but I say it now: that all cat-people should have a master-key to everyone else's house all over, just exactly for emergencies like this.
*NB - I have actually no idea what "wuthering" actually means, but am here taking it to mean rain and chill and utter nastiness.
