What do we like, people?

I was just considering the generic attractions of new and shiny stuff and how I feel about it (attracted, largely); and it occurred to me to wonder how others felt. Almost to make a poll of it, except that I don't do polls.

So. Pretend I do. When you reach for something to scribble in, would you rather that your reaching fingers found:

(a) a crisp new notebook fresh from its wrapping, untouched and pure and prepared, all ready to be devoted to something new; or

(b) an old and battered notebook, half-full of other ideas, stained and bent and pocket-worn?
