Hah. Did I say the snow was getting slushy? I am such an iggerant eedjit. That was yesterday. Today the wind is back in the north where it belongs (it thinks), and oh is it bitter. Also I got one of those visual-migraine effects where spots dance at the point of focus, and gradually slide to the periphery of vision over half an hour or so. I know there's a word for that, but I can't remember it. It makes walking in snowfields less fun than you might imagine.

Also, it's interesting how the texture of walked-on snow changes according to circumstance: the same path bearing exactly the same traffic is hard and crisp and compacted where it crosses the moor, then soft dry powder where it runs beside the road, then compacted again when it moves five metres away from the kerb. That's presumably either temperature or particulates. Or both.

Still. I made it, there and back again. I have gin. And lemons. And apples and mushrooms and wine and onions and prawns and cream and pork. I'll survive.
