desperanceSo I spoke to Karen, just before she went to check in for her flight. The last leg - Heathrow to Newcastle - had been cancelled, and she really didn't want to fight with unreliable and overcrowded trains that might or might not get her here. So we fell back on Plan B, where the Marquise picked her up at LHR and took her to Cambridge, where I would join her. One way or another.
So we agreed this, and I phoned the Marquisate and put all that in train, and then I cancelled my N'cle Xmas plans and ran into town to buy an automatic cat-feeder to cover unexpected absence, and then I came home.
To a message from Karen, who had reached the airport and her flight had been reinstated and she had a boarding pass and everything. So she is - we hope - flying here after all, and I have just cancelled Plan B and grovelled to the Marquisate for mucking them about and lamented a little that I won't get to see them after all and reinstated Plan A with extra grovelling to local friends for mucking them about too, and please may I sue Willie Walsh now?
