So: in the category of "making a good SF movie by accident", whose work(s) would you list, and why?

(The category came up in a dream; unfortunately, my own answer doesn't actually exist. But now I'm curious...)

(For clarity: I think this category is separate from "making a good SF film despite themselves".)

"Happy Accidents" starring Marisa Tomei, directed by Brad Anderson.

As to the why, because I'm not sure that even the script writer and director knew that it was actually going to turn out as an SF/F. Sort of like K-Pax, but unlike K-Pax, it actually works.
