Maybe it's me. I had a rotten night and a bad morning, and I still feel bewildered by the day (how can it be this late, and I have achieved so little?) - but I can't find anything. Barberries and dried rose petals have just joined the verjuice in their missingness: not in the house, not in the Turkish shop, not nowhere. Dinner's on Sunday, and I'm getting scared to start looking for what else I need.

Also I should be making stock, and I'm not. Also I should be checking three separate proofs, and I'm not.

Still, it's not all bad. Barry is hunkered down by the keyboard here, I touch him every time I capitalise; and Mac is in my lap, so that both my forearms tease him into purring as I type.
