When life hands you lemons...
Jun. 2nd, 2013 12:58 pmI made lemonade yesterday. And I have a whole jarful of a rich simple syrup, so I can knock up another batch at any time; all I need is a regular supply of the yellow darlings. (*looks at nobody in particular*)
Also, I made lemony marinades for shrimp and chicken, and a salad with a boiled lemon in it. I liked that. (Acovado and tomato otherwise, since you ask, and a lemon/olive oil dressing.)
There's not much else going on that I do like. It's the other side of the life/lemons scenario. A friend of ours here died of cancer this week (she'd been ill since I met her and I didn't know her well, tho' Karen did; but she and I went off crazy-early one morning a few months back to join a cheese crawl, and I will hold to memories of driving with her to and from the city, because that was a really special day); and my old friend Graham Joyce has lymphoma, sod it; and Karen's dealing with a significant relapse in her MS, as well as other stuff. And I may be off the codeine and cutting back on ibuprofen, but nevertheless: my shoulder hurts enough today that I've dug out the TENS machine and am now wired up, for the first time in years.
I need more things to do with lemons.
