So things have been a little rough here lately, and for myself, I always feel better when I go shopping.

As it happens, I sold my house in the UK just recently, and the money landed in my bank this week.

Half of it has already gone, in paying off the last of my UK obligations; half the remainder is scheduled to do the same over here. That still leaves more actual dosh than I've ever actually been in charge of.

Much of that is sensibly scheduled for savings accounts, against rainy days, etc. We do anticipate rain.

Karen's needs are more urgent than mine, in the matter of new shinies: her iMac and iPad are both terminally slow and need replacing.

My Sony Vaio, on the other hand, my Laptop of Heavenly Perfection is still bright and chirpy and quite swift enough for my needs, despite being even older than K's Apple kit.

However. This weekend, Sony is launching their new range of ultrabooks. It's like they knew I had money this week; I couldn't think to afford one else, and I really don't need one now, but. But.

I want to go and play with 'em, that at least. Who knows, I might not like 'em. Lighter than the Mac Air: I might find them too flimsy. I might not like the keyboards. I hear that the corners are a bit sharp.

Anyway, there's that.

In related retail news, we do need a new router. Karen's extant article is older than the LHP, even, and I am tired of rebooting it first thing in the morning. If anyone has any suggestions/recommendations/words of advice, they would be welcome.

(Also, I might just buy a Thermapen. I might even do that now, in hopes of having it before the next batch of bacon is ready to be smoked.)
