News report
Aug. 20th, 2013 06:56 pmToday is the day that the Kipling/Steampunk!Mars novella tiptoed over 50,000 words.
Ahem. 50K is getting a little long to go on insisting it's a novella, especially as it hasn't really found its way to an actual story yet, and I did just confess to m'wife that I couldn't see myself wrapping it up in less than another 20K. To my mind it still has the uncomplicated structure of a novella, but even so. I ought probably to start admitting that it's a novel.
In more of the same dispiriting news, I haven't yet really figured out why it has to be Kipling. It really does have to be, there can be no excuse else to involve him unless he's really needed, but... Yeah. Something will turn up. I, like you, wait to be enlightened.
Still. 50K. It's a moment to mark, if not exactly to celebrate. Today we had Extruded Staircase, in the labyrinths down below. Also, it occurred to me that Mars is not only a Big Dumb Object*, which fact I have known for a while now, but that it is a Big Dumb Broken Object, which I think is actually more interesting.
*Also, I love the fact that this phrase was coined by our friend
rozk. Especially as I'd been using it for years'n'years, possibly for decades, but only recently discovered that fact.
