Chaz'z lunch, observ'd
Mar. 24th, 2015 04:47 pmThis lunchtime's change of plan was brought to you by my neglecting to take the chicken livers out of the freezer in good time. That's okay; what's the point of a full fridge if you can't improvise? Ten minutes later, lunch was on the table:

The invisible stuff is a slice of toast, beneath all. The brownish stuff is leftover chicken curry that needed eating, oh woe, the pity of the world; the yellow stuff is a couple of farmers' market duck eggs, scrambled with shallot and chillies and garlic and ginger and the merest dash of turmeric; the green stuff is zhug.
What is zhug, you ask? Why, this is zhug:

It is, as you see, purest Green. It's a traditional Yemeni sauce: mostly cilantro and a bit of parsley, green chillies to taste, garlic and oil and spices. I may have decided that I like it quite a bit. I could possibly be planning to eat it with everything.
