Compost mentis
Apr. 27th, 2015 06:23 pmObviously, I am only making this post because of the subject line - but I just dug over the compost heap, and the lovely black loamy base of it is full of worms! More worms than I have seen in the whole of California! I think this is entirely due to the lovely Jen Good, who brought us a couple of jarsful gleaned from her garden, last year or the year before. I had no idea they had teemed so prolifically. In an attempt to stop them forming a giant wormy brain and taking over the planet with their pill-bug minions, I have scattered a couple of handfuls over the cleared vegetable bed, and I'll dig a whole load of the wormy compost into the other bed as soon as I've dug out the kale forest. Soil amelioration for the yay!
Really that's all I want to do right now, is ride my bike and work in the garden. It won't last, but hey. Right now I am a biomaniac. (That means a monomaniac with two interests, right?)
