On the other hand...
May. 1st, 2015 12:48 pmI have an Anova sous-vide machine on loan, which is currently soft-boiling two duck eggs for me in a first trial run. I am timing them with an app on my portable computing device, aka the smartphone. I have a cup of coffee at my side, that I just made with the Aeropress of my heart. It ain't all bad.
Also I have bought a chicken and taken out the giblets and cut away the excess fat and the wishbone (for ease of carving later) and washed it and dried it and salted and peppered it, and now I'm leaving it to come up to room temp before I slow-roast it in my beloved old Le Creuset casserole on a bed of mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes from the farmers' market; and to go with I have parsnips which I'm going to try on the reused bed of coffee beans, and baby fingerling potatoes which I will poach sous-vide in butter. Truly, it ain't all bad.
Now, as advertised, I shall work. Until my eggs are done. Then there will be devilled chicken livers on toast. Wtih eggs. And Star Trek: TNG, at the end of which I almost am.
