"Off to work in the library," did I say? Hah! All very well and good; except that when I got there, I found that the Vaio's battery was entirely flat. Which is particularly annoying as I had (unusually) remembered that I forgot to recharge it yesterday, and so had changed that tired one for another. Which must apparently have been flat on its own account, and just sitting around waiting to ambush me this way.

So I have done no work thus far today, only shopped and mooched about. And now I'm hungry, and shall go devil some chicken-livers. That'll teach 'em.

Hey Chaz you missed a lovely meal at Pannis. Are you keeping the boy then? I forgot to tell you Mac loves chocolate hence I guess the bean incident. Apparently not all cats can taste chocolate so he has a special talent.

Kevin - I'm sorry about Pani's; my old friend Michael Marshall (Smith) was reading at W'stones, and I did kind of need to be there. And then he did kind of need to be taken to the pub, and so on...

You're not getting Mac back, short of wrenching him from my cold dead hands. Barry would vote the other way, I think (poor boy is currently hiding behind bookcases, while M prowls and waits to pounce) but this isn't a democracy.

And yup, I have deduced Mac's fondness for the magic choco bean - though I have to tell you that he appears to have eaten the coffee beans as well.

Michael Marshall Smith was reading at Waterstone's? Well, buggeration! I assume this means he has a new book out... Guess where I'm going this evening. Well, as well as to this book launch thingy by some local author or other...

And I think that picture of Mac needs to be another cat-icon.

I saw Paul in W'stones on Monday, and he drew my attention to it. Very late notice, I think, hence of course very small turn-out. I think Mike felt it had been thrown together (Newcastle and Sunderland! A tour! And no, you can't go to the Sunderland gig, it's 6.00pm tonight) just as a token, rather than a serious attempt to promote the book.

I also need to get a copy, on account of having gone with No Money last night. There's lots of signed stock in the not-Emerson-Chambers iteration of W'stones, and I think he was going into Emerson this morning to do theirs too.

And you're probably right about the icon. Mac would think so. Barry...?
