Much of yesterday - having figured out that there is a backyard-paradise out there, with sunshine and greenstuff and everything - he spent huddled woefully against the back door, a picture of victimhood; I expect I was a picture of guilt, as I continued not to let him out.

Later, while I cooked, he sat in the washing machine. Yup. In. I don't know why; he seems to like it. Barry kept walking past and whoops-accidentally knocking the door shut.

He sleeps on my bed at night - well, more or less in the middle of the bed, to be honest, while I fold myself into whatever space is most convenient to him.

This morning, he slithered down under the covers. Nested against my thigh for a while, then must've detected superior warmth on the other side, viz between my legs. Stretch, snuggle, purr.

And ever since breakfast he's been sitting on my lap, like a little cutie. I have pins & needles in one foot, and I desperately need coffee.

Just sayin'.

Maybe the washing machine resembles a den, or a lair, or something like that. Then again, maybe it's just more evidence that Cats Is Strange.

Not to panic you or anything, but you do know that nesting in the washing machine is to be discouraged, lest it lead to nesting in the washing machine while your back is turned for three microseconds between putting a load of washing in, and closing the door and hitting the on switch?
