Yay! The British Fantasy Society Awards longlist is up - and lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest!

- Well, no. But lo, Mark Chadbourn and Juliet E McKenna and Stan Nicholls and, uh, some Chaz Brenchley guy are all on it! Mark's there twice! And lo, there was much rejoicing in TWF-land, because we like it when our work is noticed.

Also, of course, we like winning. Now would be a perfect time to follow that link above and vote for us, if you're a member of the BFS. If not, now would be a perfect time to join, so's you could then follow the link above and vote for us...

[Oddly, if you google 'British Fantasy Society' it wants to take you to the old website, which doesn't have the longlist or a voting form, so don't do that...]

Why am I not surprised?

Um... maybe it's early morning brainfog, but what's TWF?

Ah, sorry - this was a crosspost from [livejournal.com profile] writefantastic, where the acronym is obvious. I think...

TWF is The Write Fantastic (http://www.thewritefantastic.com), our little group of self-promoting egotists cooperating authors; we work together to give a boost to our own work and the genre in general. Fun and friendship and never quite feeling alone: it's good.

Thanks. Looks like great fun, and I approve of the self-promoting egotism part, too. Yup, there are some who carry it to obnoxious extremes -- I sat next to one such at a mass-autographing table at a major con event and watched him/her drive away more readers by ... well, you can imagine. Otoh, I know too many marvelous writers so plagued with self-doubt that they never give themselves a decent chance. A healthy balance is a good thing, and that means at least some of the believing-in-your-own-genius-and-telling-the-world-so.

Congratulations!

Actually, I've been pondering joining BFS, and this just might be a very good excuse.

Congratulations. :-)

BFS membership, eh? Wonder if they'd be more welcoming to gay cross-genre romance than the RWA seems to be...
