Barry is sitting on my desk, between keyboard and screen, neatly and exactly in my eyeline, bending from an upright pose to wash his tummy. Which puts me in mind inescapably of a female kangaroo licking off the residues of her newborn after it has slimed its way into her pouch.

I find this, um, unduly disturbing, and not at all conducive to work.
