So yesterday afternoon I was just sitting there letting the rest of a wasted day slip by, when the phone rang; and that was m'friend Harry, saying - as he is wont to do - "what are you up to, Chaz?"

Oh, I said, just sitting here letting the rest of a wasted day slip by.

Good, he said, taking this to mean "nothing", as it did. Come out to dinner, he said.

So I went out to North Shields, where he lives, and took the laptop with me, because he hath a wifi; and lo, the LHP found his network and annexed it in a matter of moments, so whatever the problem was that morning it was definitely with the Lit & Phil and not the LHP. Is good.

And then we went to the pub, and met up with sundry others; and then we took the ferry across the river to South Shields, which has become one of my favourite things to do, even in the cold and the rain and the darkness, which this was. And there we plunged into a curry-house and ate curry, and then went to more pubs on either side of the river, with another ferry trip between. And then back to Harry's house and drank wine, after which we were falling asleep and I had missed the last Metro home, so I stayed over. And listened some part of the night to the BBC World Service. Which is not unusual, except that I did it on the LHP via the wifi, which was exceeding cool. I might want wifi. I do not need it, you understand - I have radios! - but still. Coolness.

And now I am going to take the whole damn weekend off, by spending the rest of today watching movies and reading my gushyfudz magazine. Weekends off. What's that about?
