There's a phrase I can never remember, that I always have to google for: it is "displacement activity", with all that that implies.

There's probably also a phrase for that thing people do, where they do something once that other people do daily as a matter of course, and the party of the first part demands extra credit for having done it once.

I just want you to know, O internets - well, to know and to understand and to applaud - that I am cleaning the kitchen. And that I have begun with the hardest part, cleaning the stove-top. I am a splashy dribbly kind of cook. If I did it more often, I would probably find it easier to do. There might be a life-lesson or something, hidden in there. Hell, there might even be a phrase for it. *shrugs*

I have fresh turbot fillets; I have fresh dill. These were both happy shopping accidents.

I'm planning to bake the fish in oven-paper parcels, with a sprig of dill and a squeeze of lemon; I'm thinking I should be able to make a kind of pesto with dill and walnuts and garlic, With mushrooms and sugar snap peas on the side, and mashed potato because mashed potato, aka clouds of buttery carby lovestuff. I think that ought to do.
