Ellen Datlow (whom God preserve and we adore) has claimed my ghost story "The House of Mechanical Pain" for Year's Best Fantasy and Horror.

I am, to say it marginally, chuffed.

To those who don't know: the story is contained (with others, by me and others) in Phantoms at the Phil III. Buy this book now (via that link), it's beautiful...

Second time. I had a story in a couple of years back - #19? I think?

Ellen Datlow curated some of the best collections ever. She rules, and so evidently you must too.

Hey, congrats! That means I'm going to have it twice -- how much for postage to France for Phantoms at the Phil III? I ask each time, because each time you forget to indicate it (and I forget from one year to the next — birdbrains, all of us). You'd think no one was buying that damn book from across the borders...

Indeed you would. You'd think nobody was buying it at all...

Say an extra two quid? I'm not sure if it's easily added within the system, but if you just paypal £12 to sales@northerngothic.co.uk, the book will fly towards you...

Congratulations! :)

I'm still looking for Dispossession, but I think I'll have to order it. I've seen Bridge of Dreams and a few used copies of your Outremer books on local shelves, but not that one!

You can always get a copy from me; I have most of my own titles in stock and available. The easiest way is via this link. (http://www.chazbrenchley.co.uk/buying.php) We post anywhere. And usually remember to scribble in the book first, if that's an inducement at all...

I was just noting that on your web page, indeed! I may well have to take you up on that; right now it looks like locally my only real bet is Amazon, and they're only showing copies by private sellers anyway. I'd just as soon order one directly from you.

Tell ya what I'm going to do. If that fabled tax rebate the news keeps making noise about us Amurkins all getting actually materializes in my mailbox (there are rumors of these going out around May-ish), I'll set aside some of that to get your book! That'll also give me time to read Bridge of Dreams, too, which I already have anyway. ^_^
